Something I Learned Yesterday

I took the day off yesterday, from packing that is.  For the last three years or so I have had  days off but never for longer than a few days. Always those days were filled with my to do list, so much had to happen on those days because work was around the corner.  So, because those days off were full, my chosen way to relax became more and more the computer and magazines.  I even do my morning quite time for the most part on the computer.

Fast, quick, little tidbits of information. Less concentration.  Down at the computer for ten minutes to twenty then up again and on my way refreshed, or so I thought.

So what does this all have to do with what I learned yesterday, everything, because what I learned yesterday when I sat down to read a real book for longer that twenty minutes was: I had to discipline my  self to sit there even though the book was and is good.  I am so accustomed to getting up every twenty minutes doing some task, mentally running through list, etc I find that  I have to retrain my self to concentrate.

Also, the idea to sit longer than twenty minutes, (even when I watch a movie I get up and move about) makes me feel guilty.  Where oh where did that idea come from.  I use to be able to read for hours, if all my work was done and even sometimes when it was not.  (grin)

Anyway all that to say this, once again I need to find BALANCE and SLOW  DOWN!
